Tuesday was hot at 33°C, but today, Thursday, was even hotter at 34°C, and tougher in terms of the strong SSW wind, which makes the open and uphill 1 km stretch from 6km to the top of the overpass especially difficult. Perhaps this had something to do with the smaller than average crowd of 56 which turned up to ride. Five people somehow managed to improve upon there previous database best, but 43 of the 47 who had ridden an earlier OTT 15km did not improve upon their previous 2010 OTT best, despite in many cases, improved fitness levels. Most noteworthy in the improvers was Ron Amos who is now only 5 seconds away from the 18s! He has had great improvements over the last 4 seasons. For your curiousity, here is a graph showing how the two women who rode the course on Tuesday as well as Thursday, did, whereas here is a graph of the two men who rode the Almonte course on Tuesday and the Rockliffe Parkway course on Thursday. Note that the Almonte course is hillier, and hence slower for most people. In fact, you may click here to see this year's best times for the four men who have ridden both series.

(Note that I'd gladly type in the results each time, getting the results up within a few of hours of the event, as I did for the WTT series for the decade beginning in 1998, and for the OTT series from 1999-2002 and again in 2006. Regardless, I will continue to donate this statistical time trial result service to you, even though doing so has, surprisingly, resulted in my EXPULSION from the OBC ! I guess I must at least thank the OBC executive for taking on the grunt work and leaving me to do just the more interesting side of my result service, but I do want to make it absolutely clear that I would gladly help the OBC Board input the results, lest complaints about me just lazily sucking in the results surface! The choice is theirs. If they want the help, I'm here and will do it - even if I remain expelled! Such is my level of dedication to public service and disinterest in private politics.)
